Google My Business or Bust

Howdy, Shirt Heads - this week I want to introduce you to Google My Business (GMB) - if you haven’t yet gotten around to setting yours up, I highly recommend it.
Having your profile filled out is a great way to show your shop’s credibility & authority, and it’s one more place you can share your work outside of social media. My favorite way to use ours is by uploading photos of our work and responding to the Google reviews clients have left us in appreciation. That specifically is another human touch point in an increasingly automated world.
Now this is where I’ll say, it does become a bummer to feel like you have to “play the game” in order to avoid bad Google reviews - because we all know we can unfairly receive one if we meet the right person…
But in today’s world, having a GMB page with all the details filled out and social proof via reviews is something that can make your shop stand out compared to another shop who hasn’t taken the time to do so.
Here’s a quick overview of how to set yours up:
- Go to google.com/business, sign in with a Google account, and click "Manage now" to enter your business name and category.
- Follow the prompts to add your address (or service area), phone number, and website, then choose a verification method like a postcard or text message.
- Once verified, complete your profile with photos, hours, and a business description to make it more visible.
